Saint-Etienne School of Economics (Jean Monnet University) invites applications for an Assistant professor position (“chaire de professeur junior” in the French system), scheduled to start on September 1, 2022 (or a bit later if necessary). Following a successful tenure evaluation, the assistant professor will be offered a permanent position of full Professor. The duration of the tenure is between 3 and 5 years depending on the candidate profile.

We search for candidates in the fields of fair allocation, social choice theory, cooperative game theory, mechanism design theory. The successful candidate must be highly trained in the axiomatic and computational approaches in economic theory.

S/he should have demonstrated an ability to produce high quality research and have completed his or her PhD by the application date. Ability to teach in French is not required, but will be taken into consideration in the tenure evaluation.

The position benefits from a junior research chair covering the first five years of employment. It entails a substantial teaching reduction (2/3 of the regular teaching load) over the tenure period. It also provides substantial research funding, with the possibility of hiring a doc and a post-doc researchers – total budget of 278 000 €.

Saint-Etienne School of Economics is affiliated to the GATE Lyon Saint-Etienne research group, (UMR CNRS 58 24) which is among the best-ranked French departments in economics and management. It is ranked 54 in the field of Game Theory in the world, according to the REPEC ranking.
