Welcome to the UNECA/GATE International Conference on ‘Opening up and Emergence in The Mediterranean’

1. Registration: Registration will begin before the opening of the meeting. A badge will be given to the participants.

2. Documentation: The documents of the meeting will be distributed to the participants at the moment of their registration. The participants who would like to distribute their own publications have to contact the Coordinator of the meeting and send the material to: ceagateomc2008@uneca.org

3. Visa: Participants that require visa to enter Morocco need to request it directly to the Moroccan Embassy/Consulate in their country of residence.

4. Money and Banks: Banks open every day, Monday to Friday from 8h15 a.m to 15h30 p.m. The exchange rates are the following (as of August 2008)

1 € = 11.41 DH

1 USD = 7.58 USD

5. Confirmation of return: A travel agent will be present during coffee breaks to help in processing confirmations of return.

6. Wheather: The average fall temperature is usually between 24°C (75 F) during the day and between 15 °C (59 F) during the night

7. Transportation:

- The international airport of Rabat/Salé is located 25 km far from Rabat. The taxi tariffs are between 100.dhs to 150.dhs.

- The international airport Mohamed V is located in Casablanca, 120 Km from Rabat. Trains provide shuttle service between Mohamed V international airport and Rabat town (City Centre and Agdal). The journey takes around one hour and thirty minutes and the tariffs are as follow:1^st class: 100.00 Dhs; 2^ndclass 67.00 Dhs. Train schedule is available on: www.oncf.ma

Taxis are also available at the airport. The tariff for the trip Casablanca Airport - Rabat is between 500 Dhs and 650.00 Dhs.

- City of Rabat: To move around the city of Rabat, you can use small blue taxis, which are all holder of taximeters. You can also make taxi reservation at tel: 037 72 05 18 (from 7.30 am to 7.30 pm).
